A murder investigation has been launched after a St Ives man was found dead in his prison cell.
A total of nine men have been arrested and bailed until November 11 in connection with the death of Brian Haynes, 33, after he was found slumped unconscious in his cell at HMP Peterborough at around 8pm on Thursday night.
Attempts were made to revive him, but he was declared dead an hour later.
Detectives are continuing to quizz inmates about the incident and there will also be an independent investigation by the Prisons and Probation Ombudsman.
Mr Haynes, formerly of High Leys, St Ives, was jailed for four years in December 2007 after carrying out a rampage with a baseball bat.
It is believed he had also lived in the Huntingdon area.
Prison director Mike Conway said: "Our thoughts and sympathy go to his family and friends at this difficult and tragic time."
