Not in my neighbourhood - action week on crime across Huntingdonshire

Organisations across the county are preparing to say 'no' to local crime as police take part in a major campaign.
Not in my Neighbourhood Week will take place from Monday (October 13) to Friday (October 17) and is a week of action to reduce crime and make people feel safer.
Throughout the week police and partner agencies will highlight the good work which is on-going to tackle crime, disorder and anti-social behaviour.
Sectors across central division, which includes Huntingdonshire, will each dedicate one day of the week to carrying out a range of activities.
These will include the execution of warrants, engagement stands, environmental clear up events with local schools, council enforcement patrols, speed enforcement, rogue trader initiatives and recruitment opportunities.
Activities in central division will take place in:
Huntingdon on Tuesday
St Ives on Wednesday
St Neots on Thursday
A school art competition has been launched as part of the activities for young people.
The following is a summary of some of the activities taking place in each area.
>> Huntingdon:
- Licensing visits with Huntingdonshire District Council licensing officers and neighbourhood officers
- Luminus street wardens, neighbourhood officers and Neighbourhood Watch coordinators will be involved in a Vehicle Alert Scheme
- Villages will be visited to carry out engagement work with residents
- A partnership roadshow will take place in Huntingdon town centre, Tesco and Yaxley with Luminus street wardens, CCTV mobile unit, fire service, Trading Standards, Huntingdonshire District Council's community safety unit, neighbourhood officers and crime reduction
There will be an Oxmoor Community Action Group workshop on how to develop a neighbourhood agreement. Neighbourhood agreements aim to get residents and services solving problems together and have been successful in other areas of the country.
The roadshow will visit villages across the sector throughout the week. Officers will speak to residents offering advice on crime prevention. A mobile police station will also be set up in each of the villages in a prominent position for the duration of the roadshow.

Sawtry 5pm to 6pm
Catworth 7.15pm to 8pm
Ellington 8.15pm to 9pm
St Ives and Ramsey
- A 'treat my street' initiative will take place at Slade Close and Canberra Court in Ramsey.
- Initiative with a recently formed residents association in Ramsey
- A rogue trader initiative will take place in St Ives and surrounding villages
- A crime reduction stand will be placed at the Rainbow store in St Ives
- A Neighbourhood Watch meeting will take place with co-ordinators
- Joint visits to licensed premises in St Ives with the licensing officer will promote the under 21 scheme
- Luminus street wardens, neighbourhood officers and Neighbourhood Watch coordinators will be involved in a Vehicle Alert Scheme
- Multi-agency surgeries will take place with Luminus street wardens, the CCTV mobile unit, the fire service, Trading Standards, Huntingdonshire District Council, neighbourhood officers and crime reduction experts
- Trading Standards and neighbourhood officers will be involved in a rogue trader awareness event
A Neighbourhood Watch surgery will take place at the Community Shop in Great Whyte, Ramsey between 10am and 11am. There will be information and advice available on how to start up new schemes and officers will answer any questions from existing Neighbourhood Watch members.
St Neots
- The mobile police station will be situated on the Market Square featuring
- a police surgery,
- a crime reduction Roadshow,
- selling and promotion of Smartwater kits,
- promotion of speedwatch,
- recruitment of Special Constables and
- promotion of Neighbourhood Watch.
- Trading Standards and neighbourhood officers will be involved in a rogue trader awareness event
- An environmental event in Eynesbury with Huntingdonshire District Council's environmental prevention and enforcement teams.
- The fire service will work with the Bobby Scheme to install smoke alarms and security improvements at the homes of elderly residents
- Huntingdonshire District Council's community safety team will run a programme of school assembly talks with a focus on having a safe Hallowe'en
- There will be a truancy sweep
- Multi agency surgeries will take place with Luminus Street Wardens, a CCTV mobile unit, the fire service, Trading Standards, Huntingdonshire District Council's Community Safety Unit, neighbourhood officers and crime reduction experts
- Luminus street wardens, neighbourhood officers and Neighbourhood Watch coordinators will be involved in a Vehicle Alert Scheme
- Licensing visits with the district council, licensing officers and neighbourhood officers.
Other activities include:
- Monday, October 13, Street Scene Officers from the Council's Environment Team will be working with Street Pride, Rapid Response, the Police and local community to make Lime Avenue a cleaner and greener space.
