Games consoles have been stolen in a spate of burglaries in the St Neots area - and some of the homes hit were not locked.
Detectives are concerned that people are not taking appropriate security precautions after half of the burglaries within four days took place at unlocked homes.

In total, eight burglaries took place between Monday, November 10 and 14.

In one property the back door key was left in the door and the offender put his arm through the catflap to turn the key.

Once inside, the burglar took computer games consoles, mobile phones and car keys.

In other burglaries front and back doors were left unlocked while the home was unoccupied.

Sally Davies, crime reduction manager, said: "I would ask people to please ensure their doors and windows are locked and to remove the keys from the locks. It is a good idea to place any valuables out of view from windows.

"If anyone sees someone behaving suspiciously around properties, such as trying door handles, or a stranger going round the back of homes, please contact police."

>> Anyone with information is asked to contact the burglary team at Ramsey Police Station on 0845 456 456 4 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
