Things were definitely in the pink for one group of sixth formers in St Neots, as people around the district supported the Breast Cancer Campaign.
A fun day wearing pink for the pupils at St Neots Community College has helped raise cash for the national initiative.
Each pupil donated £1 for the privilege of wearing pink for the day on Thursday (October 23) and a total of £86 was collected – however, it is hoped this will top the £100 mark after half term.

Ashleigh Duguid, 16, said: "It's vital that we do all that we can to find a cure for this most terrible illness. We in the sixth form are committed to raising as much money as possible in support of all the work this charity undertakes."

Jason Cates, 17, said: "Raising awareness of this campaign will achieve a variety of objectives including letting people know in what ways they can contribute to supporting this charity."

>> Also getting into the pink were students at Huntingdonshire Regional College. Students and staff – including principal Anne Constantine – took part in the Wear It Pink campaign. Some students got sponsorship for various activities and dyed their hair pink. Youngsters from the nursery joined in too.

The canteen staff created pink themed menus, including beetroot and goats cheese tart, pomegranate juice, raspberry meringue and pink custard!
The national awareness day is Friday (October 31) but as this date falls over half term, the college decided to fundraise early.
Callum Morton, chairman of the entertainments committee and a business student, organised the event with the support of student services.
Callum said: "I'd just like to say a really big thanks to all those involved – the Wear it Pink campaign has been a great success."
By donating £1 to wear pink and collecting individual sponsorship money, the college students and staff raised about £200.

>> Staff at the Huntingdon Premier Inn and Brampton Hut Restaurant will be dressed in pink on Friday (October 31) from 6pm until late evening in support of the Wear It Pink day. There will be pink-themed attractions and visitors are invited to wear pink too.
