For the third time in nine months, metal thieves have attacked Little Staughton Church.

Early on Saturday, July 28 most of the copper was taken from the south aisle roof, which is now leaking.

The roof was only recently repaired after an earlier attempted theft.

They also took the lead hoppers on the top of the rain water 'down' pipes on the south side and seriusly damaged the east window of the Pathfinder Memorial Chapel.

The cost of repairs is likely to run into thousands of pounds.

The church was the victim of the theft of the lightening conductor in October last year in the course of which the top of the spire was pulled off.

Work to repair the spire, at a cost of over £35,000 is due to start shortly.
